Human resource recruitment: defined as any practice or activity carried on by the organization with the primary purpose of identifying and attracting potential employees. It thus creates a buffer between planning and actual selection of new employees. Number of people who apply for vacancies. Likelihood that those apply will accept positions offered. Goal is to ensure a number of reasonably qualified applicants who would accept the job, from which to choose. Competitive and creative pay: lead the market approach makes jobs more attractive. Employer branding: want to be seen as a desirable place to work. External hire from outside: referrals, universities/colleges, job boards, internet, etc. Direct applicants: people who apply for a vacancy without prompting from the organization. Referrals: people who are prompted to apply by someone within the organization. These two sources of recruits share some characteristics that make them excellent sources from which to draw.
