Document Summary

To circumvent this problem, can use alternate-form reliability, where 2 forms of the same test are prepared using differently worded questions that measure the same construct. If they are highly correlated, the internal consistency is high: can also use coefficient alpha to measure internal consistency > average all the intercorrelations on a test. High coefficient alpha means high internal consistency: tests must also have good validity if they are to be useful. If they are not, the test likel(cid:455) does(cid:374)"t ha(cid:448)e good (cid:272)o(cid:374)st(cid:396)u(cid:272)t (cid:448)alidity. Clinicians use both to detect abnormal metabolic activity or rescued blood flow: neuropsychological testing: used to determine relationships between behaviour and brain function, bender visual-motor gestalt test: oldest & most commonly used neuropsychological test. Patient is shown 9 cards with lines and shapes drawn on them, and they are told to 1) copy the drawings and then 2) reproduce them from memory. Deficits in these tasks hints at neuropsychological dysfunction.
