Never trust a single experiment- that is what you see in the popular press often, people focus on 1 study. - you want a meta-analysis and a large number of studies showing the same findings. So you have to have some way of organizing all this info. , and that is what theories are about. Claude bernard, theories- pile up facts or observations as you may, to learn you have to reason with what you have observed and compare with other facts. If you look at facts as being bricks, they are useless unless put together in a blueprint- that blueprint is a theory, theories provide explanations- that is a the goal function of theories. Easy to make up theories- the problem with prostitution is that it is ruined with amateurs- true with theories too, you need a way of evaluating theories. Is the data language explicit and theoretically neutral.
