Abusive: emotional difficulties, low self esteem (judgement & beliefs about one"s own general value & worth) research on parenting typically correlational shows relationships between parenting styles. & children"s characteristics, not that parenting styles cause certain characteristics. Peer influences: peers influence development (examples, providing direct feedback, offering comfort, etc. ) Physical competence: students have general beliefs about their ability to engage in physical activities. Differing beliefs depending on task self efficacy: belief that one is capable of executing certain behaviours or reaching certain goals self concept: one"s perceptions of and beliefs about self. Behaviours of others: how students evaluate own performances depend on how they compare to performances of those around them. Performing better = more positive self perceptions: students self perceptions affected by how others behave toward them.
