Used to automate calculations that were once performed manually. = sign indicates mathematical calculation is about to begin. Instead of typing a cell address use alternative method that involves minimal typing. To create formula must type = sign to start. Click on desired cell + type an operator. Continue to select cells + type operators to complete formula. Pointing using mouse/ arrow keys to select the cell directly when creating a formula. Fill handle = small black square in bottom right corner of selected cell to copy formulas. Provides clear cut alternative method for copying contents of a cell. To copy and paste using fill handle: Click on cell (or drag through cells) to be copied. Position mouse pointer over fill handle of selected cell(s) pointer changes to a thing crosshair.
