Paralympic sport chapter 11 notes- december 8, 2016. Sport designed for or specifically practiced by athletes with disabilities. Later on much more games and events came on as other disabilities were recognized. First one began in summer of 1952, first winter paralympics were in 1976. Governing bodies are involved with paralympic sport, including the ipc, national paralympic. Committees (npc), and international federations: international paralympic committee (ipc) Vision statement for the ipc contains and overall picture of ipc philosophy. Mission statement is more disabled, including statements that could also be seen as goals for the organization. Members of the ipc include the international organizations of sport for the disabled (iosds), the npc"s, the ipsf"s, a(cid:374)d regio(cid:374)al/(cid:272)o(cid:374)ti(cid:374)e(cid:374)tal paraly(cid:373)pi(cid:272) orga(cid:374)izatio(cid:374)s. Npc"s from different nations are also full members. Four regionals organizations and two regional committees are also members. Full (cid:373)e(cid:373)(cid:271)ers have voti(cid:374)g rights at the ipc"s ge(cid:374)eral asse(cid:373)(cid:271)ly. Half of funding comes from the paralympic games revenue.
