A pathogen meaning to reproduce and infect requires a large population to move quickly and efficiently. In tropical forests there is a variety of decomposers more time allotted in the year for decomposition (consistent temperature) As the population size nears the carrying capacity the rate of increase will slow over time and maintain a platea. Bacteria in a flask lowers in population due to competition within itself. Bacteria and viruses are placed in the same flask which results in the lowering of the bacteria population, due to the competition between the two species in which the virus is more dominant. Decomposition would decrease due to the absence of fungi, but the np would increase due to the initial abundance of photosynthetic nutrients.
