Document Summary
Describe the gross and microscopic anatomy of the stomach. Cardiac region- area from the cardiac orifice the top tube of stomach connecting to esophagus. Fundic region- dome the top of the stomach round part. Pyloric region- lower end divided into a funnel like atrium and a narrower pyloric canal. Remember the cardiac and pyloric glands secrete manly mucus while acid and enzyme and secretion occur predominately in the gastric glands. State the function of each type of epithelial cell in the gastric mucosa. Mucous cells- secret mucus in the cardiac and pyloric glands.
