Work with a resin sample to understand how cation exchange occurs. Determine the efficiency of a cation exchange resin. Use your acquired knowledge throughout the course of two semesters to design an experiment using cation exchange resin or soil. Soil is a combination of air, water, organic and mineral substances on the surface of the earth that serves as a growth medium for plants. They serve as a source of ions for the plants and are able to store and release minerals as the plants need them.
