The purpose of the site layout and staking plan is to assist the land surveyor and the building contractor(s) in precisely locating all elements of the landscape plan. This plan is used for horizontal control much like a grading plan is used for vertical control. For contractors to build the site as designed, every significant point must be acurately located. The designer must determine indicate in the drawing what these important points points are and how they are to be located. These points are generally located in a hierarchy of importance as indicated in the guide to layout & staking plans" previously given to you in la 3301. The significant points in order of importance are: a. pob: a base line and dimensioning system with bearings, proper location and size of all site elements to be built or installed with the exception of plant materials.
