A person is exposed rapidly and repeatedly to their fear. They are flooded with thought and actual experiences. This means that someone who fears spiders would have to visualise a spider running across the floor and maybe hold a spider in their hand etc. Think about if you were carrying out a behaviour studies and weren"t focused on everything. Shows how a fear is learnt balloon is the example given. Practical implications: helps us understand why people in arab countries regard europeans and americans as unfriendly and untrustworthy. (we stand back in conversations). Quickly plan an observational study that you could carry out to see if bystanders help if someone drops their shopping. What factors would you consider: these are carried out in a lab or an environment chosen by the researcher to make it. It also implies we feel more comfortable approach people of equal status.
