Systemic circuit: all of the vessels and working tissues excluding the lungs and the heart itself, all the blood sent to the bodies living tissues. It"s a cardiac muscle is involuntarily controlled (unconscious) sympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system: these two structures influence the heart rate. Its positioned downwards to the left of the body, and sits more towards the front of the thoracic cage behind the sternum. Anterior aspect: aorta, major artery leaving the heart, as it leaves it hooks around to the backside of the heart. This is known as the aortic arch: enters from the top of the heart, pulmonary artery, large vessel leaving the heart on the right side going to the lungs, less oxygenated. Superior vena cava: great vein going to the heart, vena vein , blood collected above the diaphragm pools here, this blood moves to the right side of the body.
