Clinical equipoise is when there is a general disagreement b/w 2 treatments that are applied & theoretical equipoise is when the researcher is in different b/w the 2 treatments being applied. Clinical equipoise solves the ethical randomized clinical trials dilemma of theoretical equipoise where it would be unethical to do any clinical trial where one treatment is better than the other. It says a trial is ethical as long as there is genuine uncertainty about the benefits of a treatment. Clinical equipoise would also allow more research b/c it takes into consideration the opinion of the whole scientific community & not one researcher. A trial would be deemed unethical & stopped under theoretical equipoise if the researcher thought one treatment was better but under clinical, the community would discuss & decide when there is enough evidence to support a treatment.
