In other world, language is the basis of human communication: language is symbolic. Charles ogden and richards triangle of meaning model to explain the relationship between a word (the symbol), the referent( the thing it describes), and the meaning( the thought associated with the word and the thing). There is also a strong connection between these thoughts and the actual objects or things. There is not an equally strong connection, however, between referents and the symbols that represent them: language is rule bound. Phonological rules: how sounds combine to form words. Syntactic rules: the way symbols can be arranged-the rules of structure. The shared meanings that we have agreed upon.
