Given the relationship between abundance and body size, homo sapiens are 20x more abundant than animals of similar size and 1200x more energy consuming than other species. Having lots of people creates activities that cause extinction, not necessarily the presence of humans themselves. As we are today, different ecosystems (such as built upland, woodlands, croplands and grasslands) exist to serve our needs in terms of human consumption. 1/3 of earthly environment passes by humans before other species. Our ecological footprint has grown substantially in the past 100 years, although not clear what consumption per area. Footprint, just like you can have a variation of eco. footprint without impacting human development: a perso(cid:374)"s decisio(cid:374)s, a(cid:374)d circu(cid:373)sta(cid:374)tial decisio(cid:374), ca(cid:374) have a(cid:374) i(cid:373)pact. Conservation biology can be called the biology of scarcity and is a mission oriented science that tries to define problems and fix them with solutions.
