Document Summary

Communication skills are not always interactive and applied in conversation interactions. When looking at communications skills one of the most important skill to have is to listen. Listening intently to what the patient has to say is the way that one can fully understand what the other is going through therefore being able to empathize. A practitioner also needs to be able to restate what the patient has conveyed to them, this way they are able to confirm that the right information has been communicated. When asking patient questions, the questions range from being open ended where the patient is able to tell the practitioner what the situation is and its details. When telling a story one doesn"t always include all the details that are needed. With that being said, the practitioner at this time would be able to ask specific questions through which they are able to get more detailed responses from the patient.
