The route into memory: updating the modal model. Modal model: what the consensus model came to be known as. When information first arrives, it is stored briefly in sensory memory, which holds on to the input in raw sensory form-- an iconic memory for visual inputs and echoic memory for auditory inputs. Contemporary theorists consider working memory as a status as opposed to a place.
