This first unit includes two main components: an introduction to the course and our first topic, which is population and scarcity. Most of the units will have two parts, roughly mimicking the way in which we would cover two topics each week in a lecture-based course. The online notes are intended to be read at the same time as the textbook or other readings. I t is essential that you do the readings. Any readings that are not from the assigned textbook will be available through the university of guelph library and will be online sources. The readings assigned to each unit are listed in the outline. In order to get the full benefit of the course material and to succeed in the course it is very important that you keep up with the work, including the readings.
