The delay in product delivery for the traditional delivery time of 3 weeks for plastic parts has led to an increase of discord among their clients. Lead times and delivery times have increased to a 4-5 week scale which is above the stated delivery time. This in turn is causing some turmoil among company clients and as a result is damaging and affecting company reputation and brand identity. The reason for this delay, as determined by the master scheduler, was that there was a problem in determining when a particular order could be promised for delivery. He determined that bottlenecks were being formed during production but was unable to specify where these bottlenecks were occurring.
