List and describe the three different developmental strategies. Hrd is the assessment of jobs/skills, and the management of learning, to help ensure that organizational objectives are met. Benchmarking is the use of industry standards, or competitors results, to gauge how well the hr department is performing at hrd. Training is the process of developing job-related skills, for employees to adequately perform their current roles; development is the process of giving employees new skills, based on forward looking organization objectives. Cognitive change the thought process (seminars, lectures, etc. ) Behavioural change the behaviours (roleplay, sensitivity training, etc. ) Environmental provide the setting for development (job rotation, etc. : compare and contrast on-the-job vs. off-the-job training. On the job training occurs on the job! (used to teach them how to do their current job: job rotation; apprenticeship; coaching. Have the trainer demonstrate the job (transference) Have the trainee repeatedly do the job (repetition, participation) Have the trainer give feedback to the trainee (feedback)
