A type of family that is more complex than a nuclear family, one involving more than just parent-child and spousal relationships. More than just mom, dad, child, brother, sister. Also having grandparents or uncles or relatives living with or in very close range. Note: more households include more generations as more people in their twenties start to live at home. Both immigrant and lone parents often live with their parents or siblings. A type of family composed of two adults in a conjugal relationship and their children. This idea seems to be so popular because biology just seems to form this type of family. Surrogate mothers and sperm donors challenge the definition of the nuclear family biologically forming. A political philosophy that assumes that individuals are responsible for their own welfare and that they can support themselves doing waged work.
