About Memorial University

Memorial University is a school located in with a total of 4243 courses available to enroll in.

Memorial University was founded to serve the Newfoundland and Labrador. It was dedicated to serve in the memory of those from this province who served and lost their lives in WWI and WWII. Because Memorial University is founded on this idea it is particularly oriented toward fostering community and does not make a hard and fast distinction between academic life and community life.

Memorial University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary institution which is focused on fostering community while looking toward and international perspective. There are 18,500 students and 7200 faculty working within Memorial University.

The university supports The Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER), an internationally engaged research program which engages global economic and social issues. Memorial University also supports The Marine Science Research Laboratory which is engaged in marine research and aquaculture.

Campus life is accentuate by the notoriously friendly culture of Newfoundland. Students generally feel as though faculty and staff are easily approachable and the sense of community is easy to join. Although the climate can be cold, Newfoundland and Labrador offer an endless array of outdoor recreation. That the university places such importance on the relationship between active student life and academics further encourages students to take advantage of the surrounding areas.
