A This is not just about walking in someone else’s shoes. We can learn a lot by recognizing that people had many differing points of view in the past – for a variety reasons. Similarly, our points of view regarding historical people or events often change over time. It is about understanding the social, economic, political, cultural and even emotional conditions of the world they lived in. -

B By trying to understand why something happened, we can also attempt to figure out what resulted -

C Looking at periods of history where there has been change or continuity helps to understand that history is not just one event after another, but a web of events or part of a process. -

D So much has happened in the past. A big part of studying history is NOT knowing all that took place but determining what was important. Trying to determine what makes an event important or significant can be difficult. We want to understand its importance for us and impact on our lives. -
