Faith Integration Project
A Christian worldview is a way of life that should be applied to each and every
aspect of daily life. Especially taking into consideration the world as it currently is, it has
become fundamental to apply Christian principles to other areas of life such as the
professional one. As challenging as it might seem, the Bible indicates various manners in
which Christian faith and ethics can be applied to financial situations. In other words,
Scripture serves as a guide in addressing accounting-related subjects such as the need to
plan ahead, budgeting, management, and debt.
The ability to plan ahead is necessary in order to promote the stability
and success of any kind of company. The business world hinges on several kinds of
planning, financial planning being an important one. Not only does a business put an
emphasis on planning, but the Bible also acknowledges this subject. The field of
business and the Bible have much in common. In fact, “In America the use of the
Bible as a business text goes back hundreds of years” (Burkett, 1998). Its promotion
of honest, ethical, and moral standards makes it a source that should be upheld in
the business realm. However, it seems that fewer and fewer people hold true to
these standards today.
As a Christian, one must rely on God to provide wisdom. While understanding
how to effectively plan for a company’s finances is essential, the Lord always has the
best in mind. Philippians 4:6 instructs believers to not “worry about anything;
instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has
done.” God’s nature radiates love for His people. His desire is for us to glorify Him
and succeed within His will. Jeremiah 29:11 clearly establishes that the Lord has
