Document Summary

1. 1 anatomy physiology and the temple of homeostasis. Anatomy: study of the structure of body parts. Physiology: the study of how the structure works. Subdivisions of physiology: based on organ systems (renal or cardiovascular physiology, often focuses on cellular and molecular levels of the body, looks at how the body"s abilities are dependent on chemical reactions in individual cells. An average human loses anywhere between 40-100 pieces of hair a day: does it really take more muscles to frown or smile. Babies have more bones than adult humans do. To study anatomy = know anatomical terminology and be able to observe, manipulate, palpate, and auscultate. To study physiology = understand basic physical principles (electrical currents, pressure, and movement) as well as basic chemical principles. Anatomy & physiology = inseparable: function always reflects structure, what a structure can do depends on its specific form, known as principle of complementary of structure and function.
