Document Summary
According to the american psychological association, psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. It is the investigation of the mind, its operations, and how these influence behavior. The american psychological association (apa) continues by saying that it "embraces all facets of the human experience, from the functions of the brain to the acts of nations, from infant development to care for the elderly. " Although they are not nearly the same, psychologists and psychiatrists collaborate to treat patients with mental health disorders. The study of behavior and the mind is known as psychology. Psychology comes in many forms, including cognitive, forensic, social, and developmental psychology. A psychological evaluation and course of treatment may be advantageous for someone who suffers from a mental health disorder. A psychologist might recommend therapy that emphasizes behavioral modifications. A psychiatrist is a medical professional who tends to concentrate more on the medical treatment of mental health problems.
