Document Summary

Running head: roles and responsibilities of a special educator 1. Roles and responsibilities of a special educator 2. The achieved discussion with my mentor realized several lessons on my roles and responsibilities, which go beyond my previous understanding of the subject matter. One of the new insights that i need to engage more attention to as i engage more effort in the area of my professionalism is the legal aspect of the special needs students. As a special educator, it is important to explore further and understand various legal rights of special educators including relevant privileges given to students with disabilities compared to normal students in any learning environment (rothstein & johnson, 2009). Another new insight of the discussion with the mentor revolved around an improved commitment to conflict resolution among special needs students with other students and staff members in the school.
