Answers: thoracic ribs have superior and inferior demi facets that articulate with the head of the ribs. The superior demi facet articulates with the matching rib, so t3 superior demi facet articulates with the inferior facet of the 3rd rib. So the superior facet of the 3rd rib articulates with the inferior demi facet of t2- these are the costovertebral joints. Iicm are orientated perpendicular (p-i), membrane posteriorly and they elevate the ribs medial to the costocondral junction, they depress the ribs lateral to the costocondral junction. Innermost icm- intermittent, deficient posteriorly and same actions as the iicm.
