Civilization- located on the southern most tip of ancient. They are also known for their high degree of cooperation w/ one another: cuneiform- first writing system, system that utilizes word pic & triangular symbols, uruk city- great wonder, great ziggurat of ur- mountain of god. Served as the sacred places of their chief god. Irrigation & dikes- sumerians were challenged to mass produce food items. Was invented to dig the ground where seeds would be planted: roads- in order tofacilitate faster. & easier travel: babylonian civilization- emerged near the tigris. One of their major contributions is the hanging gardens of babylon: hanging gardens of babylon- structure made up of layers of gardens that contained several species of plants, trees & vines. Egyptians believed that this writing system was provided to them by their gods. Hieroglyphics was the language that tells the modern world of the history and culture of the ancient. Egyptians: wig- enhance the appearance of people.
