Can satisfy personal needs through a team- affiliation and esteem. Can provide feedback, identify growth opportunities, train, coach and mentor. Teaming- strategy of teamwork on the fly- create many temp changing teams. More productive, lower costs, better customer service, higher quality & more satisfying. Traditional work groups- have no managerial responsibilities- organized by the frontline manager. Autonomous work group- control decisions about a range of task- fully responsible for entire product. Self-designing teams- have control over the design of the team + task of autonomous team. Working group- collection of people who work in the same area but do not come together. Team- people with complementary skills who trust one another and committed to goals. This is a cycle- norming happens about halfway through. Critical periods times when they are particularly open to formative experiences.
