Biographical- the work of people considered to be scientists do ex. Social/cultural- an aspect of a culture that changes depending on the time and place. Institutional- whatever done by ppl at stevenson/ other institutions and people. Every civilization has developed their own way to interpret the natural world. Modern science grew out of early modern european dedication to theology, law, and science. In the 1600s mathematics is not part of science or natural philosophy- more relevant to astronomy and music (arts) but via cosmology (i. e. copernicus) entered natural philosophy. Teleology- things behave based on what they"re supposed to do"; the explanation of phenomena in terms of the purpose they serve rather than of the cause by which they arise.
