The danville riot (1883) fight started after a white man was bumped into by a black guy, group of white men fired among a group of blacks, killing 4, readjusters swept out of office following this riot. Tom watson (1856-1922) us hor ga (1891-93) senator (1921-22), initially tried to lead interracial challenge to southern elite, but became a vocal proponent of white supremacy and led campaign that culminated in the lynching of leo frank, Plessy v. fergusson (1896) separate but equal is okay as long as the services were equal (however the services were almost never equal) Atlanta compromise (1895) colored would work hard and get education in exchange they wouldn"t fight jim crow. Naacp (1911) advance the black people and create complete equality for black within the law, focus on legal challenge to jc.
