MUSI 1300 Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: Tempo
Document Summary
In this lecture you will understand how to understand music and how musical terms can effect a song. Meter- represents the number of beats in a measure. Syncopation- this occurs when a weak beat is accented. Accent- when a note or beat requires to make a short crescendo for that particular note. Notation- a system of writing music so that specific pitches and rhythms can be communicated. Note- a oval that indicates a exact pitch. Staff- is a set of five horizontal lines with four spaces which can identify if a pitch is low or high. If the note is placed high on the staff, then the note has a higher pitch. If the note is placed low on the staff, then the note has a lower pitch. Notes can also be placed higher or lower than the staff"s border lines identifying how high or low a note can be. Flat sign a symbol next to the note (b)
