How do you produce prose that succeeds in communicating. First be prepared: you must do the necessary research on the subject matter so you will understand the material. Knowing who your intended readers or listeners are means awareness of their characteristics, values and beliefs so you can reach them. In short, you must tailor your message carefully and deliberately for to intended recipients. Instant global access to communication all means cultivating a sensitivity to how unintended recipients are likely to react. An important part of tailoring your message consists of choosing the right medium, or channel of communications, to reach that public.
