Document Summary

Kruglyak depiction snps in genotyping array. Spot where there is a genotype variant see which of the two snps an individual has. Association studies - not testing for causal variants. Detect association w/ traits snps inherited with other snps, insertions or deletions that might be causal. When a new polymorphism arises arises on a particular background. Ability for a snp to serve as a proxy over time with neighboring snps. More time more chance for recombination to occur and for the snps to move away from each other (not be inherited together - won"t be proxy for adjacent snps decreases ability to be proxy) Snp arrays look at runs of snps that together are more likely to be present at one place than another. Not much genetic variation at a snp site that is unique to a place. Most genetic variation we see within a genome is shared.
