Mammal mothers feed and protect newborn young-lactation and nursing. Fish guard the eggs and fan the eggs with oxygenated water to make sure oxygenated. Endothermic-generate own body heat during process of cellular respiration, retain heat because body surface is covered in layers of hair or fur. Ear ossicles-in humans, tiniest bones we have in the middle ear. Montremes- egg laying mammals, duck billed platypus-only venomous mammal, Ectothermic-hide when its too hot, bask in sun, perform behaviors. Sex determination-sex usually determined by the environment it experiences during early development. Longer legs for greater speed may mean more fragile bones. An animal may devote more energy to reproduction at the expense of a strong immune function, or vise versa, or both traits might by negatively affected. Do not develop during an animal"s life but over many generations. Ex: the shape of a bird"s beak or fur on a bear. Warning-monarch butterfly so bright to warn that it tastes bad.
