Document Summary

Alpha solenoids = helical repeat proteins, helical nature of repeat subunits, green/ yellow/ blue. = one subunit, way they wrap around each other results in an intrinsic helicity of the superstructure, solenoids have helical structures themselves. Flexible -> deep crevices which are good for bounding globular proteins, or extended surfaces depending on depth of curvature. In pumilio it"s dissolved with nucleic acids (red) lining up at end of helices in the loop regions where they interact with them. Beta catenin = multi functional, cell cell adhesion and regulation of transcription, with nucleic acids and components for cell cell adhesion. Motifs are supersecondary structure, many secondary structures coming tgt, not stable on their own. Beta hairpin are hairpins, greek key shows up a lot because it resembles a pattern found in ancient greek pottery. Beta strand motifs have anti parallel arrangement strands, motifs eg. beta hairpin and greek.
