Document Summary

Undulations are perpendicular to direction of motion. Distance between two peaks (or any repeat distance) Can also be measured in hz (1/sec) So, wavelength and frequency are inversely proportional. Waves are in phase, so their amplitudes add. Waves are out of phase, so their amplitudes still add (but its like they subtract due to negative signs) Diffraction patter appeared on a detector screen. Means that there are small openings in an nacl crystal. There are multiple slits and the waves fan out from the slits, then these fans interfere with each other to create the diffraction pattern. Allowed this light to pass through a prism that separated light by color. Allowed mapping out of light by wavelength (color) and intensity. Frequency on x-axis shows color of light. Intensity on y-axis shows how much light is at a certain frequency. Total intensity (integral of the curve) increases. The brightest color has a higher frequency. Substances glow red, orange, yellowand then white.
