Tf3c functions with rna pol 3 in the trna genes and they"re usually at boundary sections, so binding sites are indicative of boundary sections pev in drosophila. Similar to what we saw in lecture but different cartoon. In top there is white gene that is in euchromatin section, and you get normal looking eye. When white gene is rearranged due to pev to be in heterochromatin section -> variegated/ heterochromatic eye. This system where if you have gene in eucrhomatin or hc section allows for genetic work to where scientists wcould identify suppressors or enhancers of variegation. Must have full gene present in euchromatin and expressed to be functional. Genetic screens idetnified many proteins that were silencers of variegation in the gene.
