Document Summary

Environment: the scientific study of how people"s feelings thoughts or behaviors are influenced by the actual, imagined or implied reactions of others. Implicit attitudes are very different from explicit attitudes. Implicit attitudes: how we emotionally feel about something inside, explicit is how we show it: persuasion, convincing someone toward adopting an attitude, emotional appeal vs. Rational appeal: who said what to whom and how did they say it: persuasion, peripheral: indirect root; persuaded by respect, central: direct; listening to the message. Social cognition: how people percieve, think about and remember information about others. Some people are better at it than others: attribution theory, how we explain the behavior of ourselves or others, can have biases toward one or another. In their control or out of their control. If you are wrong blaming it on someone else and if you are right it is all you.
