Document Summary

Today : understanding your personal experience in historical context, understanding your personal experience from a global perspective. The present is a product of the past: global perspective. We are all living in the here and now, but we are moving through historical time: we are also situated in a specific place in the geographical world, historical time and geographical place are intersecting. How society is organized in different ways. Not too much about communism but rather an analysis of capitalism. Significant for the theory of history that it represents. The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles . What the bourgeoisie, therefore, produces, above all, is its own grave- diggers. Its fall and the victory of the proletariat are equally inevitable . Note their historical dialectic: thesis, antithesis, synthesis. Synthesis: the product of how the thesis and antithesis resolve themselves: not a linear point of view, similar to a swinging pendulum.
