Almost all are set for sleep at night. Non rem/nrem - non-rapid eye movement sleep. Light sleep, small irregular brain waves, muscles relax. High peaking waves, sleep spindles, burst of electrical activity. Deep sleep, delta waves, slow with high peak. Cycle 1, 2, 3, 4, 3, 2, then rem sleep. Active brain waves, increased heart rate and blood pressure, limp muscle state. Infants appear to be hardwired for more rem sleep.
