Everyone could find drugs or knew someone who used them. Marijuana and other drugs became used by everyone in the 60"s. Teenagers began using drugs in the 70"s. Authenticity was the goal of the youth: be yourself. New culture began around drugs: drugs, sex, alcohol, embracing yourself, music, etc. In the 60"s and 70"s there was a cultural change and drugs were a huge part of it. Lsd was originally used by chemists, but then the cia thought they could give the drug to other countries to reveal secrets; didn"t work. The cia continued to experiment with lsd and did strange experiments, but later it was. A sensation overwhelming you without any source of direction is what it is like to be on shut down. One scientist, tim leary, thought that lsd could change the world; he was a serious advocate for the drug.
