Autokinetic effect: if you stare at a bright light in a very dark room, the light will appear to be moving even though it is not. Private acceptance: confirming to other"s behaviors because you believe that it is correct and have come to reality. Normative social influence: people go along with other people in order to be liked and asked by the others. Usually results in public compliance without private acceptance: group strength, group immediacy, number of people in the group (#1 and #2 are very clear, higher levels, higher conformity) Social norms: the implicit rules that a society has for acceptable behaviors, values and beliefs. Front-in-the-door technique: getting people to agree first to a small request makes them more likely to agree to a second request. Door-in-the-face (ditf) technique: is a compliance method commonly studied in social psychology.
