Persuasion: definition- the process of creating, reinforcing, or changing people"s beliefs or actions, there must be a disagreement in order for persuasion to be necessary, from teacher to advocate. Ethics in persuasion: many speakers are willing to take ethical shortcuts to reach their goal, avoid, quoting out of context, not giving the whole story, misrepresenting facts and figures, emotional appeal. Three types of persuasive speech topics: question of fact, a question about the truth or falsity of an assertion. Informative speech- nonpartisan: persuasive speech- question of fact, partisan, facts are being questioned, organization, topical- each main point is a reason why someone should agree with speaker, question of value, value of judgements. Immediate action: must address, need- there is a problem, supply proof, plan- major featu(cid:396)es of the speake(cid:396)"s solutio(cid:374, practicality- will the plan presented work or cause more problems.
