PSYC100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Classical Conditioning, Operant Conditioning, Behaviorism
Document Summary
Association developing an understanding that certain events occur together. Behaviorism- how environment and experience affect behavior, thoughts, and feelings. Classical conditioning- type of learning in which one learns to link two or more stimuli & anticipate events. Higher-order learning- a new neutral stimulus can become a new cs. Extinction- diminished responding when the cs is no longer repaired with the us. Generalization- tendency to respond with the cr to stimuli similar to the cs. Discrimination- learned ability to distinguish between a conditioned a condition stimulus and other irrelevant stimulus and other irrelevant stimuli. Shaping using reinforcers to gradually guide an animal"s action towards a desired behavior. Successive approximation- reward responses that are closer to the final desired behavior. Reinforcers- positive strengthen response by following it with a pleasing stimulus. Secondary reinforcers- associated with primary reinforcers to achieve result. Fixed-ratios- reinforce behavior after certain number of responses. Variable-ratios- reinforce behavior after unpredictable number of responses.
