People"s mental states have little effect on their physical states, in either health or disease. Health psychology: a field that integrates research on health and on psychology; it involved the application of psychological principles to promote health and well-being. Placebo effect: an improvement in symptoms following a treatment with no apparent physiological effect. Nocebo effect: a negative impact on symptoms following a treatment with no apparent physiological effect i>clicker: A: drug- pain is less severe than when taking the placebo. What is considered stressful is interpreted by your brain. Events are perceived and interpreted by your brain to be stressful. But that cognitive interpretation affects your physical body. Ex: emotion instant reaction, push the problem away, passive. Problem-focused thought out, active, targeting the issue right away.
