Symptoms include skin folds at corners of eyes, low nasal bridge, short nose, indistinct groove between nose and upper lip, small head, small eye opening, small midface, and a thin upper lip, as well as impaired cognitive functioning. Drinking during first trimester results in physical and mental symptoms, abut alcohol exposure after first trimester only affects cognitive abilities.
