Won"t happen outside first few months of life. What is instinct with mother love: bonds during early life. He was testing against freud"s idea of mother"s breast association. There was a wire structure mother , a bottle, and a nipple. Offered them a doll with no food. They went to the doll for comfort. Tendency to bond, but not necessarily with the mothers. On the first day of life: one mother had lemon smell on breasts, the other one normal. They were then raised by normal mothers.
