Document Summary
Stimuli where they follow a behavior, the probability of that behavior increases. Positive: when a stimulus is presented after behavior, promotes the behavior. Negative: stimulus that when you remove it, it increases the probability of behavior. Reaction to mentalistic notions of cognitive psych. Box with lever, cup for food, speaker for sound. Each step, closer to final end behavior. Find good primary reinforcer and a good secondary (conditioned) reinforcer. Primary reinforcer are usually harder to administer. Has to happen at the same time. If you gave a rate a treat during experiment, it would interrupt. These small steps of reinforcement can be used to train both people and animals. Skinner elaborates partial reinforcement with schedules of reinforcement. Partial reinforcement: longer to acquire, longer to extinguish. Press a button 10 times to get food. Learn that you need to do a lot of work between reinforcement.
